READ THE CRAP BELOW, IT'S ACTUALLY IMPORTANT!
I wanted to add a note about some equipment and settings. Graham Coxon (the guitarist) used a ProCo Rat2 for this song. If you've never heard of it, it's a ditortion pedal and a mighty fine one indeed! (HEAVY SOUND. He uses a Telecaster but for this song I'm not really sure. When I play it, I put the DITSORTION at max, the FILTER at about 12 o' clock and the VOLUME at about 3 o' clock. You might be thinkin' "Volume, who cares what that's at?" That's the key to this tone. The whole point of that distorion pedal is to get the sound that you can get at a level where you speakers are about to blow out(REALLY NICE SOUND) without having to turn the volume up to loud. So, if you keep the settings normal and all and set it up right, sure you'll get that tone for the most part. THen you add the actual tone from the REALLY FRICKIN' HIGH VOLUME and what the pedal tries to emulate... And God ***, it's heavy as all hell! And by the way, I'm totally aware that I sound like I'm trying to promote this distortion pedal. Haha pfft Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters uses it too and a lot of other people. Check out Stacked Actors by Foo Fighters, it's sorta like their version of this song. Not a copy, just like the same type of song with a really calm part and then an insane, heavy part.
